Words Mirror Your relationship with God

Don’t say anything that would hurt [another person]. Instead, speak only what is good so that you can give help wherever it is needed. That way, what you say will help those who hear. Ephsieans 4:29 (GWT)

Words reflect your relationship with God. ( A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart. NLT) When you speak or type, it is coming from what you are putting in your heart. If you are filling your heart with the world, your words might mirror the world and its sinful ways. If you are hiding the words of the Lord in your heart, then His likeness will shine through. ( I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11 NIV) Zachariah is a great example of just how important words are. He was old in age and did not believe the angel Gabriel when Gabriel said that his wife Elizabeth, who was sixty, would conceive a child. The Lord sent the angel to tell Zachariah the great news, but because of his unbelief, Zachariah’s ability speak was taken away until his child, John, was born. What you speak or think matters to God. We serve a powerful God who spoke the earth into existence and made Zachariah mute untill his son was born.

Then the angel said, “I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! But now, since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.” Luke 1:19-20 (NLT)

The tongue is a unique gift from God. With it you can praise God, but then you can get on social media and tear someone down who has been made by God and is loved by Him. (But no human being can tame the tongue. It is restless evil , full of deadly posion. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings , who have been made in God’s likeness. James 3:8-9 NIV) If you are a Christian, people are watching your words and actions. They should reflect Christ and His likeness. It is really difficult to speak wisely ( I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak , Matthew 12:36 ESV), ecspecially in a a world where we have many platforms to speak. In this highly social media-driven age, it is easy to lift people up, and sadly, just as easy tear people down. Your words have the power to bring someone closer to God or futher away. Wherever God has you in your season of life is your mission field.Your words and actions will affect your mission field.

Watch what you speak

Out of the heart ❤

Radiant words can be spoken

Deadly words can be spoken

Set a guard over your mouth , Lord; keep watch over the doors of my lips . Psalm 141:3 (NIV)
